| Main Street Swords |
The main street is a hive of activity during the day, with it's well laid out off street shopping
malls in a compact area where you can get almost anything from books, sports ware and hardware. There is also a big selection
of fast food including McDonells and Abrakebabra. Swords is also well catered for with excellent restaurants including Chinese,
Indian, Italian and not forgetting Irish food which every pub sells. The town is the administrative headquarters for Fingal
with the County Hall located on Main Street.
But it's at night that the town really comes alive with the late night pubs and clubs attracting
revelers from all parts of Dublin.
Although this site started out with only the history it has grown substantially over the past
few years. There was a definite need for a local Swords website to cover every aspect of the town. There's now a complete
pub review section giving a guide to what entertainment each pub has on offer. Next came the Clubs section giving details
about local football and golf clubs. The most popular sections on the site are the bus timetable and the background information
on Swords Castle. I will continue to expand the site and cover much more topics.
The news section covers stories of local intrest which are not usually covered by The Fingal Independent, for a full picture
of what's going on in the town on a weekly basic see the Fingal newspaper which is published every Tuesday.
The Services part of the site has information on Fingal Co. Council, the population of the town from the
last census, info. on the progress on Metro North and much more. A history of the Schools in Swords from the 1960's to the present day. The photo. section has some very fine quality images from over 100 years ago which can
be downloaded and framed.
